Members of the SA Under-20 squad took time off from their busy 2010 IRB Junior World Championship schedule and hosted a coaching clinic for junior rugby players at the Club Atletico Estudiantes in Parana.
The initiative forms part of the 2010 IRB Junior World Championship's Legacy Programme where each of the 12 competing sides are encouraged to assist with the development of rugby in the Argentinean cities of Parana, Sante Fe and Rosario.
The Club Atletico Estudiantes is situated outside the city of Parana, yet hundreds of enthusiastic Under-13 and Under-15 players together with their parents attended the Baby Boks' coaching session which was hosted by the coaching trio of Eric Sauls, Nico Serfontein and Pine Pienaar.
The parents and onlookers were also dressed for the occasion and sported Springbok and various other SA provincial rugby team clothing.
Six players of the 26-man SA Under-20 squad - Nic Scheepers, Peet Marais, Sibusiso Sithole, Lubabalo Mtembu, Francois du Toit and Wessel du Rand also assisted their coaches in putting the aspiring rugby players through their paces.
At the conclusion of the two-hour coaching clinic the Baby Boks enjoyed a signing session with the players, parents and local media.
This is something we gladly assist the IRB with at every tournament, said SA Under-20 Team manager Willem Oliphant.
It will also not be the last Legacy Programme session that we will be involved in. There'll be another one before the end of the Pool phase round of fixtures and then in the playoff week, we'll host another activity.
There's definitely a great desire amongst the youngsters here to play rugby, so we'll do our part in bringing the game to them.
The SA Under-20s on Monday resumed preparation for their second Pool C match against Scotland which takes place in Sante Fe on Wednesday at 19h00 (RSA time). The Baby Boks will participate in two training sessions at their base in Parana today before coach Sauls announces his match day 22.
The South African players enjoyed a quite, laid back Sunday under the watchful eyes of the medical team but also concluded a successful video session where they analysed their opening Pool C win (40-14) over Tonga.
